Newstead Class Y5&6

Welcome to Newstead Class, with our teaching team: Mrs Preece, Mrs Mackellar and Mrs Tunnard.

 

In Newstead, we enjoy growing our knowledge and applying it in lots of interesting and fun ways to help make us remember. 

 

The children make the most of every opportunity available to them: representing our school teams, Piercy, Brook, Daffen and Ebsworth as Team Captains; leading training and supporting other children in a variety of school initiatives, e.g. Take 5 Breathing Ambassadors, School Council, Eco committee, Worship Leaders.

Y6 Head Girl is Lexi-Mai and Head Boy is Lucas.

Newstead Class School Council Representatives are Julia and Olivia. Here they are joined by the representatives from Rufford and Clumber Class.

‘Heroes and Villains’ - We really enjoyed reading Macbeth.

We went to Retford Little Theatre to watch a production of Macbeth and we absolutely loved it!

During our Macbeth Workshop, we produced a modern retelling of the play through drama. Take a look!

On Number Day Newstead Class enjoyed dressing up as Rock Stars. We had fun trying to beat our times on Times Table Rock Stars ⭐️

What we are learning in Autumn Term 2020?

In History we will be studying The Mayans.

In Science we will begin to look at Evolution and Inheritance.

Year 6 Long Term Plans 2019-2020

Celebrating the colours of our St Swithuns Rainbow!

This term Everest Class will be learning about  Ancient Greece in History, alongside this in Geography we will be carrying out a study of Greece.  In Science we will be learning about Living Things and Their Habitats and Animals Including Humans.

In art we have been looking at different types of Greek patterns. We then created different designs and drew them onto porcelain pots.

To finish off our Ancient Greek topic, we made a Greek Salad with a Greek dip.

This term Everest Class will be learning about the Victorians.  In Science we will be studying Evolution and Inheritance.

At home we have busy making Victoria sponge cakes, one of our topic homework tasks.

We went to Retford Museum to find out more about Victorian life.

In Science we will be investigating light and electricity.

In Geography we will be studying mountains and coasts.
